FREE CONVERTER · ON YOUR DEVICE
Convert HEIC to PNG
Add your HEIC file below and press the button: Cocuyo converts it to PNG right in your browser, for free and with no watermark. PNG is already selected as the output. You want to edit an iPhone photo without losing more quality on every save, or some software or a website will not open HEIC and you would rather not recompress it as JPG.
- Free, no watermark
- Your files never leave your device
- PNG pre-selected
The photo is read with your own browser’s decoder, with no external libraries: Safari on iPhone, iPad and Mac opens it, and Chrome and Edge do when the device decodes HEVC video (most Android phones and recent computers). If yours cannot, the tool tells you when you add the photo.
HOW TO DO IT
Three steps.
Add your HEIC file
Drop it on the box or choose it. Up to 10 HEIC or HEIF photos at once, up to 60 MB and 50 megapixels each, with single or ZIP download.
Check that PNG is selected
PNG comes pre-selected. If you want a smaller image, pick a maximum in “Size”.
Download the PNG
Press the button and download each file, or all of them in a ZIP when there are several.

HEIC vs PNG: what changes
You want to edit an iPhone photo without losing more quality on every save, or some software or a website will not open HEIC and you would rather not recompress it as JPG. PNG is lossless, but it does not bring back the detail the camera already compressed in the HEIC, and a photo is several times larger as PNG than as JPG. To send or upload photos, HEIC to JPG is much smaller. The PNG comes out without EXIF data or GPS location.
| Feature | HEIC | PNG |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | HEIF photo with HEVC compression: the iPhone camera’s default format. | Lossless image. |
| Compression | Lossy and very efficient: at similar quality it is usually smaller than a JPG. | Lossless: sharp, but for photos several times larger than a JPG. |
| Transparency, animation or sound | Can store transparency and several images; the main photo is converted here. | Keeps transparency. |
| Compatibility | Apple (iPhone, iPad and Mac); Windows, many websites and forms cannot open it without extensions. | Universal. |
| Best for | Keeping photos on your phone while taking less space. | Logos, screenshots, text and cut-outs with a transparent background. |
