Extract PDF text: common questions
Does it work with scans?
Only if they already contain a text layer. Pages without text are reported; this tool does not perform OCR.
Does it keep tables and columns?
No. It exports text in the order returned by the PDF reader. Review columns, languages and line breaks before use.
What are the limits?
20 MiB, 200 pages, 2 MiB of text, 100,000 text fragments and 30 seconds per attempt. These are initial product limits.
Are my PDFs uploaded to a server?
No. The tool runs inside your browser: documents are read and processed on your device and are not sent to Cocuyo or to any third party. The PDF libraries are served from our own site, with no external services. You can check it in your browser’s network tools: your file is not sent.
Is it really free?
Yes. You can try it before signing up; to keep using it, we ask for a free account, with no subscription. It uses no credits and does not count toward your 30 welcome uses: it has no usage cap.
