Microphone test online for free
Choose the microphone, speak and watch the meter: you will see whether it hears you, whether the level is low or whether it clips. You can turn echo cancellation, noise suppression and gain control on or off to hear the difference in a short recording. If it does not work, the tips explain the most common errors.

Microphone test: common questions
Is my voice saved or sent?
No. The audio is analysed in your browser and the test recording only exists on this page until you close it.
The browser says there is no permission. What do I do?
Click the icon next to the page address, allow the microphone and try again. On Windows and macOS, also check the system privacy settings.
Why do I sound different in a video call?
Video calls usually use echo cancellation, noise suppression and gain control. Turn them on here to hear something similar.
Is my audio uploaded to a server?
No. The tool runs inside your browser: audio files are read and processed on your device and are not sent to Cocuyo or to any third party. The MP3 encoder is served from our own site. You can check it in your browser’s network tools: your file is not sent.
Is it really free?
Yes. You can try it before signing up; to keep using it, we ask for a free account, with no subscription. It uses no credits and does not count toward your 30 welcome uses: it has no usage cap.
