Convert video: common questions
Which videos can I convert?
The ones your browser can play: MP4, M4V, MOV, WebM, MKV or OGV. Not AVI, WMV or FLV, because no browser opens them and Cocuyo has no reader of its own for them. An iPhone MOV recorded in HEVC only opens if your browser and device can read HEVC.
Does it lose quality?
A little: the video is re-encoded, up to 1080p and at most 30 frames per second. At High quality the difference is hard to notice, but it is not an exact copy of the original, and a 4K video is saved at 1080p.
Why can I not choose MP4 or WebM?
Because your browser does the conversion and not every browser can create both formats. If it lacks AAC sound, an MP4 with sound cannot be saved: choose WebM or remove the sound. We never save a different format from the one you chose.
Are my videos uploaded to a server?
No. The tool runs inside your browser: videos are read and processed on your device and are not sent to Cocuyo or to any third party. The libraries are served from our own site, with no external services. You can check it in your browser’s network tools: your file is not sent.
Is it really free?
Yes. You can try it before signing up; to download the result we ask for a free account, with no subscription. Your free account comes with 30 welcome uses; after that, each use costs 1 credit (top-ups from US$1), and they are unlimited with Basic or Pro. It never adds a watermark.
