Numbers to words: common questions
How is a million written in words?
“One million”. In Spanish, when the amount ends exactly in millions and has a currency, «de» is added: «un millón de pesos», «dos mil millones de dólares». If more digits follow, it is not: «un millón cien mil pesos».
Is a billion the same in English and Spanish?
No. In English, a billion is a thousand millions (10^9). In Spanish, «un billón» is a million millions (10^12), which English calls a trillion. The tool uses each language’s own scale.
What is the 50/100 check style?
It is the usual way to write cents on checks and invoices: the whole amount in words and the cents as a fraction of 100. Each bank has its own habits; check the format yours asks for.
Which English style does it use?
US style: “one hundred five”, without “and” after “hundred”, and with a hyphen between tens and units, as in “twenty-one”.
Up to which Roman numeral does it convert?
From 1 to 3999 in the modern form, for example MMXXVI for 2026. Forms such as IIII or VX are rejected because they are not standard.
