    Open Music on a video

  2. Add the video and the music

An MP4, WebM or MOV video and, with “Choose music”, an MP3, M4A, WAV or OGG up to 100 MB.

  3. Replace or mix

“Replace it with the music” removes the original sound; “Mix it with the music” keeps it and lets you set both volumes.

  4. Set the start and fades

In “The music starts at”, type the second of the song, like 0:30. Choose a fade in and fade out, and whether it repeats when shorter.

  5. Download and adapt

Press “Add music” and download the video. If it is horizontal, Change video aspect ratio makes it 9:16 for Reels and TikTok.

    Open Video to 9:16, 1:1 or 16:9

TIPS

To get it right

Tip 1

To keep the voice clear over background music, set the music between 20 and 40% volume.

Tip 2

If you only want part of the song, trim it first with the MP3 cutter or use “The music starts at”.

Tip 3

Use music you have the right to use: Instagram and TikTok may mute or block videos with protected songs.

Add music to a video: common questions

What if the song is longer than the video?

The video keeps its length: the music is cut at the end with the fade-out. If it is shorter, it repeats or ends earlier, as you choose.

Can I use Instagram or TikTok music?

Music from their libraries is added inside each app when you post. Here you add an audio file you have on your device and the rights to use.

What are the limits?

A video up to 300 MB and 10 minutes, and music up to 100 MB. The video is saved up to 1080p; saving video needs WebCodecs.

Is it free?
