How to convert HEIC to JPG on Windows

Open the free image converter with JPG selected, add up to 10 .heic or .heif photos, choose JPG (or PNG) and, if you like, a maximum size, and press “Convert images”. Your own browser reads the photo, so it never leaves your PC; if it cannot open HEIC, we tell you when you add it.

Open HEIC to JPG

Free with an account, no subscription or watermark. Your files never leave your device.

TIPS

To get it right

Tip 1

HEIC depends on the browser and device decoder. If it cannot open the photo or decode HEVC, the tool tells you when you add it; try a compatible browser or convert it on your device.

Tip 2

To stop your iPhone taking HEIC photos, go to Settings › Camera › Formats and choose “Most Compatible”.

Tip 3

If you need to send several photos as one file, put them into a PDF afterwards with JPG to PDF.

Convert HEIC to JPG: common questions

Why can’t Windows open my iPhone photos?

The iPhone saves photos as HEIC, a format smaller than JPG that many Windows programs, websites and Android phones cannot open. Once converted to JPG, they open anywhere.

Are the date and location kept?

No: the JPG comes out without the original’s EXIF data and GPS, which protects your privacy when you share it. If you need that data, keep the HEIC too.

What about Live Photos?

They are converted as a still photo: the JPG keeps the main image, without the motion or sound.

Is it free?

Yes. The free tools in this guide run in your browser and add no watermark. Tools that create files come with 30 welcome uses on a free account, then cost 1 credit per use; tools that show the result on screen have no usage cap. You can try them before signing up; to download the result or keep using them we ask for a free account, with no subscription.
