HEIC to JPG: common questions
Does it work in any browser?
Your browser must be able to open the photo or decode HEVC. Not every device can; a message tells you when you add it if that support is missing. We use no external decoding service: it happens on your device.
Does it lose quality?
JPG is re-encoded: adjust quality between 60 and 100% and compare the result. PNG adds no compression loss, but may be larger. If you choose a maximum size, the photo is reduced without distortion.
Are the date and location kept?
No. The JPG or PNG comes out without the original photo’s EXIF data and GPS, which protects your privacy when you share it. If you need that data, keep the HEIC as well.
What are the limits?
HEIC or HEIF photos up to 60 MB and 50 megapixels, 10 per batch. Live Photos are converted as a still photo. HEIF photos made with AV1 depend on your browser opening them.
How do I avoid HEIC on iPhone?
In Settings › Camera › Formats, choose “Most Compatible”: new photos will be saved as JPG. The ones already in HEIC you can convert here.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. The tool runs inside your browser: files are read and processed on your device and are not sent to Cocuyo or to any third party. You can check it in your browser’s network tools: your file is not sent.
Is it really free?
