Compress image to 100 KB

Add your photo below: the 100 KB target, JPG output and a 1280 px maximum width are already selected. Cocuyo tries quality levels until it finds the best one that fits in 100 KB and, if it still does not fit, shrinks the dimensions a little. Everything happens on your device.

HOW TO DO IT

Three steps.

  1. Add your photos

JPG, PNG or WebP, up to 10 at once and up to 30 MB each.

  2. Check the target

100 KB, JPG output and 1280 px width come pre-selected. If you are asked for another size or format, change it before compressing.

  3. Download

Each photo or all of them in a ZIP. Next to each one you see the size before and after.

WHEN TO USE IT

What a 100 KB photo is for

Forms and applications

Many exam, scholarship, job or government websites cap the size of a photo or scan. If yours says 100 KB, it is ready here.

Email and light websites

A 100 KB photo opens instantly on a phone, takes little space in an email and does not slow down a website or an online shop.

Why 1280 px wide

At 100 KB, a 1280 px photo keeps good detail on screen. If you start from a phone photo of about 4000 px and only lower the quality, you get blotches; shrinking the dimensions first gives a cleaner result.

REAL LIMITS

Good to know

It does not always fit

If the image has a lot of detail, the tool tries up to 6 progressively smaller sizes. If it still cannot get under 100 KB, you get the lightest possible version and the tool tells you.

Transparency

JPG does not store transparency: transparent areas of a PNG become white. If you need it, switch the output to WebP, if your browser can create it; if not, it comes out as JPG on white, so check the download.

1 KB = 1024 bytes

The tool counts 1 KB as 1024 bytes. Some forms count 1000: if your photo is rejected by a tiny margin, ask for 95 KB to be safe.

THREE TARGETS

100, 50 or 20 KB: which one you need

Each preset starts from a maximum width; the tool reduces it further if the image does not fit.

50 KB1080 pxProfile photos and forms with a stricter cap.

Compress image to 100 KB: common questions

How do I compress an image to 100 KB?

Add it here and press “Compress image”: the 100 KB target is already set. The tool finds the highest quality that stays at or under 100 KB, so the result usually lands a little below, which is what forms ask for (“100 KB or less”).

Does it lose quality?

Some, like any JPG compression. At 1280 px and 100 KB a photo usually looks good on screen; for printing you want a larger file.

Can I choose another size?

Yes. Change the “Maximum size per image (KB)” number: it accepts 10 to 30,000 KB. There are also 50 KB and 20 KB pages with their preset ready.

Does it work with iPhone photos?

With JPG, PNG and WebP up to 30 MB and 40 megapixels. Convert iPhone HEIC photos to JPG first with the HEIC to JPG tool.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. Everything happens inside your browser: the file is read and processed on your device and is not sent to Cocuyo or to any third party. You can check it in your browser’s network tools: your file is not sent.

Is it really free?

Yes. You can try it before signing up; to download the result we ask for a free account, with no subscription. Your free account comes with 30 welcome uses; after that, each use costs 1 credit (top-ups from US$1), and they are unlimited with Basic or Pro. It never adds a watermark.
