HOW TO USE IT
Three steps.
Type the number
In any field, with a minus sign if it is negative. It accepts up to 1,200 digits with no rounding, and prefixes such as 0x or 0b.
Adjust how it looks
Group the digits, add the 0b, 0o and 0x prefixes or choose uppercase letters. Each result has its own “Copy” button.
Try bits and text
For two’s complement, choose 8, 16, 32 or 64 bits. For text to bytes, type some text or paste bytes to read them.

Binary converter: common questions
How do you convert decimal to binary?
Divide the number by 2 again and again and read the remainders from bottom to top: 13 is 1101. The tool does it instantly with integers of up to 1,200 digits, without the 53-bit limit of many calculators.
What is two’s complement?
It is the usual way to store signed integers in memory: the first bit shows whether the number is negative. For example, −5 in 8 bits is 11111011. Choose the size in bits to see the range that fits.
Why does an accented letter take two bytes?
Text is encoded as UTF-8: basic letters take one byte, ñ and accented vowels take two and many emoji take four. That is why ñ is 11000011 10110001.
Is my text sent to a server?
No. Everything is calculated in your browser as you type; the text is not sent to Cocuyo or any third party and is not stored. You can check it in your browser’s network tools: your file is not sent.
Is it really free?
Yes. You can try it before signing up; to keep using it, we ask for a free account, with no subscription. It uses no credits and does not count toward your 30 welcome uses: it has no usage cap.
