GIF maker: common questions
Why does the GIF have fewer colours?
The GIF format allows 256 colours per frame. It suits screenshots, drawings and simple photos; smooth gradients may look slightly grainy.
What if the photos have different shapes?
The first photo sets the size. The others are fitted with the background colour or cropped at the edges, as you prefer.
How big will the GIF be?
It depends on the number of photos and the width. At 480 px with 10 photos it is usually a few MB; lower the width if you need less.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. The tool runs inside your browser: files are read and processed on your device and are not sent to Cocuyo or to any third party. You can check it in your browser’s network tools: your file is not sent.
Is it really free?
Yes. You can try it before signing up; to download the result we ask for a free account, with no subscription. Your free account comes with 30 welcome uses; after that, each use costs 1 credit (top-ups from US$1), and they are unlimited with Basic or Pro. It never adds a watermark.
What are the limits?
JPG, PNG or WebP up to 30 MB and 40 megapixels per file, not animated. Files are processed one at a time so the tab stays responsive, even on a phone.
