Fraction calculator for free
Work with two fractions or mixed numbers and get the simplified result, as a mixed number and as a decimal: 1/2 + 1/3 = 5/6. Every step is explained: the common denominator with the LCM, the operation and the simplification with the GCD. It also turns decimals into fractions, repeating ones included: 0.(3) = 1/3.

Fraction calculator: common questions
How do you add fractions with different denominators?
Find a common denominator, the least common multiple (LCM) of both, and rewrite each fraction with it. Then add the numerators: 1/2 + 1/3 = 3/6 + 2/6 = 5/6.
How do I type a repeating decimal?
Put the repeating digits in parentheses: 0.(3) is 0.333… and 0.1(6) is 0.1666… The tool turns them into an exact fraction: 1/3 and 1/6.
Is there a size limit?
It calculates with arbitrary-precision integers (BigInt), so no digits are lost. To keep the page responsive, each number allows up to 300 digits.
Is my data sent to a server?
No. The numbers, dates and names you type are calculated in your browser and are not sent to Cocuyo or to any third party.
Is it really free?
Yes. You can try it before signing up; to keep using it, we ask for a free account, with no subscription. It uses no credits and does not count toward your 30 welcome uses: it has no usage cap.
