Remove silence from video or audio free

Cut the pauses out of a talking-head video, a lesson or a podcast. The waveform shows every pause that goes in red, you set how much quiet counts as a pause and, if you like, add a gentle zoom on the strongest phrases.

    Move the silence threshold and the shortest pause: the waveform marks in red what is removed and tells you how long the result is.

  3. Download

    Press “Remove silences” and download the video (or the audio as MP3 or WAV) without the pauses.

Remove silences: common questions

How does it decide what is silence?

It measures the volume every 20 milliseconds and compares it with the normal level of your voice. Whatever stays below the threshold for longer than the shortest pause is removed, leaving a little silence on each side so cuts do not sound abrupt.

What does the zoom on strong phrases do?

In the loudest parts, the picture moves in by 12% and eases back, to give rhythm to a talking-head video. It is optional and only applies to videos.

Does it lose quality?

The video is saved again up to 1080p at high quality, so it looks very close to the original. Audio comes out as MP3 or WAV, as you choose.

Are my videos uploaded to a server?

No. The tool runs inside your browser: videos are read and processed on your device and are not sent to Cocuyo or to any third party. The libraries are served from our own site, with no external services. You can check it in your browser’s network tools: your file is not sent.

Is it really free?

Yes. You can try it before signing up; to download the result we ask for a free account, with no subscription. Your free account comes with 30 welcome uses; after that, each use costs 1 credit (top-ups from US$1), and they are unlimited with Basic or Pro. It never adds a watermark.

What are the limits?

Videos up to 300 MB and 10 minutes that your browser can play (MP4, WebM or MOV), with output up to 1080p. Saving video needs WebCodecs, found in recent versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari; if it is missing, we tell you.
