Photo to sketch: common questions
Does it use artificial intelligence?
No. These are classic filters: blur and colour dodge for the pencil, edges and few colours for the cartoon, and blocks with a palette for pixel art. That is why the result depends on the light and contrast of the photo.
How is it different from pixelating a photo?
“Pixelate or blur areas” hides faces or details in part of a photo. Here the whole photo becomes pixel art with a short palette, like a retro video game.
Why is it slow with large photos?
Every pixel is calculated on your device, so a large photo takes longer. The page stays responsive meanwhile and you can cancel.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. The tool runs inside your browser: files are read and processed on your device and are not sent to Cocuyo or to any third party. You can check it in your browser’s network tools: your file is not sent.
Is it really free?
Yes. You can try it before signing up; to download the result we ask for a free account, with no subscription. Your free account comes with 30 welcome uses; after that, each use costs 1 credit (top-ups from US$1), and they are unlimited with Basic or Pro. It never adds a watermark.
