VAT calculator: common questions
How do you remove VAT from a price?
Divide the price with tax by 1 plus the rate as a decimal: at 21%, 121 ÷ 1.21 = 100. Simply subtracting 21% of 121 is not enough, because that gives 95.59.
Which tax rate should I use?
The one for your country, region and kind of product or service; it changes from place to place and over time. The tool does not know it: type the current rate shown on your invoice or by the tax authority.
Why do a 20% and a 10% discount not add up to 30%?
Because the second one applies to the already reduced price: 100 − 20% = 80, and 80 − 10% = 72. The total saving is 28%.
Is my data sent to a server?
