Which metadata is removed?
EXIF (including GPS location, camera, serial number, dates and software), XMP, IPTC, comments and PNG text chunks. Pixels and the colour profile are kept so the photo looks the same.
Does the photo lose quality?
No. Metadata is removed from the file without recompressing the image. The only exception is a photo with an EXIF orientation tag: it is rotated and saved again at very high quality so it does not appear sideways.
Don’t WhatsApp and social networks remove the location already?
Many networks strip it when you post, but not always: when you send a photo as a document, by email or on your own website, it usually keeps its metadata. Removing it first is the safest option.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. The tool runs inside your browser: files are read and processed on your device and are not sent to Cocuyo or to any third party. You can check it in your browser’s network tools: your file is not sent.
Is it really free?
Yes. You can try it before signing up; to download the result we ask for a free account, with no subscription. Your free account comes with 30 welcome uses; after that, each use costs 1 credit (top-ups from US$1), and they are unlimited with Basic or Pro. It never adds a watermark.
What are the limits?
JPG, PNG or WebP up to 30 MB and 40 megapixels per file, not animated. Files are processed one at a time so the tab stays responsive, even on a phone.
