Colour picker: common questions
Why does the CMYK not match my print shop’s?
It is a mathematical conversion with no colour profile. Print shops use the profile of their paper and inks, so the final CMYK may differ: use it as a reference.
Is the image uploaded anywhere?
No. The image opens in your browser to sample colours and never leaves your device.
What contrast do I need?
WCAG 2 asks for at least 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text at level AA; level AAA asks for 7:1 and 4.5:1.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. The tool runs inside your browser: files are read and processed on your device and are not sent to Cocuyo or to any third party. You can check it in your browser’s network tools: your file is not sent.
Is it really free?
Yes. You can try it before signing up; to keep using it, we ask for a free account, with no subscription. It uses no credits and does not count toward your 30 welcome uses: it has no usage cap.
