Song BPM detector online for free
The detector analyses the rhythm of the audio and gives you the average tempo in BPM, with decimals and rounded, plus other possible candidates. Since the beat is often confused with its half or double, it also shows those numbers. If you prefer to do it by hand, tap a button to the beat of the music.

BPM detector: common questions
Why does it sometimes give the half or the double?
Many songs have a pattern that repeats every two beats (kick and snare) or very strong subdivisions. That is why the half and double are shown too.
Does it work with any music?
It works best with a steady beat and percussion. For live, classical or tempo-changing music, the number is approximate.
How does tap tempo work?
Tap the button to the beat at least 4 times: the average of the intervals is calculated. If you stop for more than 2 seconds, a new count starts.
Is my audio uploaded to a server?
No. The tool runs inside your browser: audio files are read and processed on your device and are not sent to Cocuyo or to any third party. The MP3 encoder is served from our own site. You can check it in your browser’s network tools: your file is not sent.
Is it really free?
Yes. You can try it before signing up; to keep using it, we ask for a free account, with no subscription. It uses no credits and does not count toward your 30 welcome uses: it has no usage cap.
